The Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial venture Padmaavat released a little over a week ago. Starring Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor the film took off on a good note despite the screenings of the film in certain areas being obstructed. Now on its eighth day at the box office the film has managed to draw in another Rs. 10 cr. at the box office taking its total collections of a massive Rs. 176.50 cr.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the collections of Padmaavat on Day 8 while comparing the same to the collections of previous releases on their second Friday. Surprisingly, despite the hype surrounding the film Padmaavat that collected Rs. 10 cr. on its second Friday claims the ninth spot on the list of top 10 second Friday grossers. In fact, the collections of the film do not manage to surpass previous releases like Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that collected Rs. 19.75 cr., Dangal that collected Rs. 18.59 cr., PK that collected Rs. 14.48 cr., Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected Rs. 12.8 cr., Bajirao Mastani that collected Rs. 12.25 cr., 3 Idiots that collected Rs. 11.71 cr., Tiger Zinda Hai that collected Rs. 11.56 cr., and Dhoom 3 that collected Rs. 10.1 cr.
However, given the fact that Padmaavat continues to run in theatres, and the fact that the film faces almost no competition it is expected to continue to dominate at the box office. As per advance predictions the business of Padmaavat will see a jump in collections over its second weekend managing to cross the Rs. 200 cr mark in a day or two.
