Holdover releases Toilet - Ek Prem Katha and Bareilly Ki Barfi have stayed on to be steady at the Box Office despite half a dozen new releases arriving in theaters. This was on the cards too since both films have been accepted and hence would continue to find footfalls on the basis of word of mouth that is positive.
Let's talk about Toilet - Ek Prem Katha first. The film collected Rs. 1 cr more on its third Friday and with this the numbers have moved up to Rs. 125.40 cr. There is bound to be a good jump in numbers today and that should bring the collections to Rs. 127 cr at the least. The weekend is set to touch Rs. 129 cr then which would bring it on par with Akshay Kumar's own Airlift which had lifetime collections of Rs. 129 cr.
Bareilly Ki Barfi has been even more stable than Toilet - Ek Prem Katha, what with drop in numbers from Thursday [Rs. 1.65 cr] to Friday [Rs. 1.30 cr] being very nominal. In fact if not for the tension that developed up North on Friday, the collections would have been even better. With Rs. 20.02 cr in its kitty already, the film should now be making a dash towards the Rs. 24 cr mark before it steps into the weekdays.
Though at the end of first week it had seemed that the lifetime collections of the Ayushmann Khurranna, Kriti Sanon and Bhumi Pednekar film would stay in the range of Rs. 25-27 cr, good hold on Friday has spelt good news. The total could well be marching towards 27-30 crore lifetime which would bring it in the same zone as Happy Bhag Jayegi lifetime [Rs. 30 cr]. Average.
