The Ranbir Kapoor starrer Sanju released on Friday last week to packed screens. Directed by Rajkumar Hirani the film which is a biopic of actor Sanjay Dutt has received rave reviews from the critics, while the audience have been thronging theatres. After opening on a high note the business of Sanju witnessed good growth on both Saturday and Sunday with box office collections skyrocketing.
In this box office analysis we take a look at the first Sunday collections of Sanju while comparing the same to previous releases. Not surprisingly, collecting Rs. 46.71 cr Sanju, being one of the most talked about and keenly anticipated releases of 2018 has gone on to create history by surpassing the first Sunday collections of Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion that had collected Rs. 46.50 cr to emerge as the All Time highest third day grosser. If that wasn’t all Sanju has also recorded the highest single day collections for any Bollywood releases while also out beating the third day collections of other releases like Tiger Zinda Hai that collected Rs. 45.53 cr, Dangal that collected Rs. 42.41 cr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected Rs. 38.75 cr, PK that collected Rs. 38.44 cr, Sultan that collected Rs. 38.21 cr, and Dhoom 3 that collected Rs. 38.03 cr.
Currently, with Sanju dominating the domestic box office unopposed all that remains to be seen is whether the film goes on to become one of the highest grossing film.
