Raabta saw an ordinary opening at the Box Office as it collected Rs. 5.61 crore at the Box Office. One expected a start in the range of Rs. 7-8 crore at the least; however the numbers are much lower. The film didn't quite take any opening of sorts and though there was some improvement later in the day (which followed a normal trajectory), the push wasn't quite there.
In terms of the romantic musical dramas that have released in the year so far, this is how Raabta stands:
Badrinath Ki Dulhania - Rs. 12.25 crore
Half Girlfriend - Rs. 10.27 crore
Rangoon - Rs. 6.07 crore
Raabta - Rs. 5.61 crore
OK Jaanu - Rs. 4.08 crore
Phillauri - Rs. 4.02 crore
Of course the film was never aiming for the kind of numbers that Badrinath Ki Dulhania and Half Girlfriend brought in; after all the stars in there have much more experience and pull in theaters. However, one expected Raabta to be next in line at the least.
The film has seen largely average to below average reviews coming its way and the turnaround, if any, would be quite a challenge. In terms of competition, the Sushant Singh Rajput and Kriti Sanon starrer doesn't have to worry about since it is running at the maximum number of screens. Moreover there is no film from the past or the present either which has much steam in there. However what eventually boils down is the inherent content that it has to offer. That needs to click with the audience and for that today is the all important day for it make any major impression.
