Two distinct films release this weekend – Mom and Guest Iin London. Former is a hardcore drama with an emotional appeal to it. Sridevi returns to the big screen for a Bollywood film almost half a decade after English Vinglish . The film has been ready for a while but had been waiting for a right release arrival. This has actually turned true for the film since it is releasing two weeks after Tubelight, when the Salman Khan starrer has almost ended its run.
It is seeing an appropriate release for itself with a right count of screens. Moreover, the promotion has been apt too, which is sufficient for a film belonging to this genre. However, from the opening perspective, it would all boil down to word of mouth. One doesn’t see big numbers coming its way on the first day itself as critical acclaim would define where exactly does the film head for rest of the weekend. For Friday though, numbers would stay around the Rs. 3 crore mark.
As for the second release of the week, Guest Iin London, the film is finally arriving after hitting a roadblock a few weeks back. The promo of the film didn’t place it immediately as an out and out hilarious affair. Moreover, the promotion too turned out to be a tad jerky once the release date changed. Still, given the fact that the film stars Kartik Aryan in the lead who has good command over comedy, one expects him to act in tandem with veteran Paresh Rawal and bring on some humor. Moreover, director Ashwani Dhir too returns seven years after Atithi Tum Kab Jaoge? and one expects him to take forward the comedy show.
Yet again, the film would depend on word of mouth and the opening day of around Rs. 2 crore is on the cards.
