There are two films from south that are currently running in theatres and both are seeing contrasting response at the box office. While Liger (Hindi) is not finding any respite and seeing a steady decline, Karthikeya 2 (Hindi) is holding fort and attracting some sort of footfalls at least.
This can well be seen from the fact that on Tuesday, Liger (Hindi) could rope in just Rs. 1.25 crores* despite running at a huge count of screens with practically all good shows at the best properties amongst multiplexes as well as single game screens reserved for it. Dharma Productions went all out to ensure that the Vijay Deverakonda and Ananya Pandey starrer gets the best stage for itself to grow and prosper, but then the eventual content wasn’t to audience liking and that’s what reflecting in the overall numbers that stand at Rs. 16.50 crores*.
On the other hand one can bet that till date not many even in the industry know the names of the producer, director as well as the lead actors of Karthikeya 2 (Hindi) and still ‘aam junta’ is giving it a dekko. It’s plain word of mouth that’s doing the trick which has allowed a Rs. 7 lakh opener to reach Rs. 24.82 crores* already with Rs. 0.60 crores* coming on Tuesday as well. The trend will only stay on to be stable since there isn’t much of a competition around it, which means the third week would close around the Rs. 26 crores mark. The journey towards the Rs. 30 crores lifetime is now assured for this surprise hit of 2022.
