Box Office: KGF – Chapter 2 (Hindi) enters Rs. 300 Crore Club, Jersey stays low

By Joginder Tuteja

After two back-to-back Rs. 250 Crore Club successes in the form of The Kashmir Files and RRR (Hindi), it is time to now celebrate the success of a Rs. 300 Crore Club blockbuster in the form of KGF - Chapter 2 (Hindi). The film has done what no other Bollywood film has done before, which is to score a triple century in just a little over 10 days. The film achieved this feat on Sunday morning and is continuing to keep its pace much ahead of Dangal, which stays on to be the highest grossing Bollywood film ever. It is in fact next only to Baahubali 2 - The Conclusion (Hindi) when it comes to scoring over Rs. 300 crores in such quick time. The SS Rajamouli film will stay ahead in the eventual run but as of now, this Prashanth Neel film should end up being the second best for sure by surpassing Dangal.

Box Office KGF - Chapter 2 (Hindi) enters Rs. 300 Crore Club, Jersey stays low

This was made possible after Sunday collections stood at Rs. 22.68 crores. In the process of doing that, it not just scored a triple century but went ahead of the lifetime score of Bajrangi Bhaijaan (Rs. 321 crores), War (Rs. 318 crores), Padmaavat (Rs. 302.15 crores) and Sultan (Rs. 301.50 crores) in really quick time. Currently standing at Rs. 321.44 crores, it will now go past Tiger Zinda Hai (Rs. 339.25 crores), PK (Rs. 340.80 crores) and Sanju (Rs. 342.53 crores) this week itself and then challenge Dangal (Rs. 387.38 crores).

Meanwhile, Jersey is trying to find its audience but could not do much on Sunday with merely Rs. 6 crores* more coming in. With this, the film’s total now stands at Rs. 15.50 crores*, which is quite less if one considers the kind of credentials that it came with. This is a film which would have aimed for Rs. 100 crores at least from India theatrical business and one waits to see if the word of mouth stays on to be good enough that it finds itself around Rs. 30 crores lifetime at least.

*Estimates. Final numbers awaited

Note: All collections as per production and distribution sources
