The Madhur Bhandarkar film Indu Sarkar which was based on the emergency, released a week back. Though the film was prominently in the news in the run up to its release, the hype surrounding it seems to have not helped the business at all.
In fact after opening to a rather tepid start with just Rs. 0.85 cr. coming in on its opening day the business of Indu Sarkar remained rather low with Sunday showing a spike in collections. If that wasn’t all, compounding things further the business on weekdays as well remained low.
Due to the low footfalls at theatres through the week, and similarly low opening weekend collections the total earnings of Indu Sarkar at the box office at the close of its first week stands at just Rs. 4.6 cr.
