Yet another day and it was Hollywood to the rescue as close to Rs. 10 crores more came in. There are three hit films that are currently in the running, Oppenheimer, Barbie and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One, and these are ensuring that exhibitors, distributors and most importantly audiences have something to cheer about with entertainment belonging to some or the other genre being available.
Oppenheimer is of course the highest grossing amongst them all, what with another good day of Rs. 6 crores*. The film is holding up well during the weekdays and though the drop from Friday numbers of Rs. 14.50 crores is more than 50%, it’s not worrying since in any case the Christopher Nolan drama has been over-performing. The film will stay on to be over Rs. 5 crores now today and tomorrow as well which will add Rs. 10 crores more to its current total of Rs. 62 crores*.
On the other hand Barbie is finding its sweet run going with Rs. 2.25 crores* more added to its total on Tuesday. Again, the drop is around 50% when compared to Friday collections of Rs. 4.50 crores but then this film too exceeded expectations when compared to what many would have pegged it to be till a week before release. The film has already reached Rs. 23 crores* and will now enjoy a first week in the vicinity of Rs. 27 crores. Anything over and above that would be bonus collections.
Meanwhile, Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One has now reached Rs. 95 crores* with Tuesday numbers turning out to be Rs. 1.50 crores*. After that dip on Friday due to the release of two major oppositions from Hollywood itself, the film has settled down well and will now be entering the Rs. 100 Crore Club in the third weekend itself. As such, its total so far is actually from the complete two-week run so far as the film had released on Wednesday. Had the Rs. 100 crores mark been hit yesterday itself then it indeed would have called for early celebrations.
*Estimates. Final numbers awaited
