It was yet another huge day at the theatres as almost Rs. 40 crores came in. In the times when the opening weekend to the tune of Rs. 40-50 crores for big films are celebrated (and rightly so, since times were so bad till 3-4 months back when nothing was working), here are these two films which are collecting as much on their sixth day.
Of course, major contribution for this huge moolah is coming from Gadar 2 which netted Rs. 32.37 crores more. This is simply fantastic and not too far away from its Monday number of Rs. 38.70 crores. The collections could easily have come down as that’s the trend with the biggest of blockbusters when after a fantastic opening weekend, especially during the holiday season, there is a major drop evidenced. However not for Gadar 2, where the collections are playing at an altogether different level field. Currently standing at Rs. 261.35 crores, the film will enter Rs. 300 Crore Club on Friday.
On the other hand, OMG 2 is now also gearing up for its big milestone of Rs. 100 crores, something that it will achieve on Saturday. The film had a very good Wednesday as well with Rs. 7.20 crores been collected at the box office. The film is playing at less than 1500 screens, so it pretty much shows how it’s running to very good capacity and that too in the face of Gadar 2. The Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi and Yami Gautam starrer has now reached Rs. 79.47 crores and as you read this, it would have gone past the lifetime collections of OMG! Oh My God (Rs. 81.46 crores).
