A few weeks ago we saw the release of a rather off beat film with the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Badhaai Ho hitting screens. Just a few weeks after the release of Badhaai Ho, the much talked about Aamir Khan – Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan release. While expectations were that Thugs of Hindostan would decimate its competition at the box office to emerge as the clear winner, it was eventually Badhaai Ho that stunned everyone with its business remaining stable despite the new release.
In this box office report we take a look at the collections of Badhaai Ho and Thugs of Hindostan in the overseas markets of North America and Australia. Quite surprisingly, despite the fact that Aamir Khan enjoys a massive fan following in these territories it is the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer Badhaai Ho that seems to be leading the charge. In fact, in North America circuit Thugs Of Hindostan managed to draw in USD 1.87 million [Rs. 13.33 cr] while on the other hand Badhaai Ho drew in a massive USD 3.12 million [Rs. 22.24 cr].
Similarly, in Australia, Thugs of Hindostan managed to rake in AUD 648k [Rs. 3.34 cr] while Badhaai Ho drew in AUD 690k [Rs. 3.55 cr]. Interestingly, a point that stands out here is that while the North American box office was easily swayed with the rich in content film, the Australian box office did not see that big a difference in the collections of the two films.
However, whatever be the case, it is obvious that Badhaai Ho has managed to beat Thugs of Hindostan in both the North American and Australian markets.
