The Hollywood action flick Avengers: Infinity War that released on Friday last week opened to a thunderous start. The film which comes as the third instalment in the Avengers franchise has not only been the most talked about release but also the most keenly awaited film of 2018. After opening on a high note in the Indian market, Avengers: Infinity War that released across 2000+ screens in English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu has continued to see good growth over its opening weekend. In fact, the business of the film has managed to beat the collections of Baaghi 2 to become the second highest opening weekend grosser of 2018.
Collecting Rs. 94.30 cr in just three days Avengers: Infinity War has surpassed previous big ticket Bollywood releases of 2018 like Baaghi 2 that collected Rs. 73.10 cr, Raid that collected Rs. 41.01 cr, Pad Man that collected Rs. 40.05 cr, Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety that collected Rs. 26.57 cr, and October that collected Rs. 20.25 cr. However, the business of Avengers: Infinity War does not surpass the collections of the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directorial Padmaavat that had collected Rs. 114 cr on its opening weekend.
Currently, given that Avengers: Infinity War does not face any competition from previous releases and that it has a clear run at the box office, the business of the film is expected to grow even further. With the upcoming holiday on May 1, expectations are that Avengers: Infinity War will manage to rake in around Rs. 125 – 130 cr by Wednesday.
