Avatar: The Way of Water is water catching fire and something that won’t be diffused for a real long time! One couldn’t have imagined the movie to be doing this kind of bumper business. But that’s happening indeed as the collections have topped the Rs 20 crores mark all over again, and that too on its second Saturday. The film is benefiting big time from the holiday season and also the fact that it’s genuinely been loved by the audiences, which is resulting in continued word of more been generated.
The film also breaks another myth that only Marvel films are being popular in India and other action biggies from Hollywood, regardless of how well made they are, would do limited business here. Yes, Fast And The Furious franchise has been quite popular as well in India and so is the Jurassic franchise. However, none have gone bumper in their journey. Avatar: The Way of Water is doing so and that’s reflected in Rs 224 crores* which it has already collected after bringing in Rs 21 crores* on Saturday.
The new Hindi release Cirkus would just about manage to go past the Rs 21 crores mark though after its opening weekend. So far, the film has collected Rs 12.65 crores in its first two days and this is the number that was expected at the bare minimum on the first day itself. Unfortunately, the collections have just not grown with Friday been Rs 6.25 crores and Saturday staying flat at Rs 6.40 crores. Some sort of jump could come in today due to the Sunday factor. While the morning and afternoon shows are already better, one waits to see how much further than the Rs 21 crores mark the film goes post the weekend.
