Mubarakan collected Rs. 5.18 crore on its first day and now after its first week the film stands at Rs. 35.66 crore. This means the film has practically maintained the first day average on the remaining days of the week as well which in principle looks good. That said, the fact also remains that the first day itself was lower than expected (by at least a couple of crore, if not more) and hence the least that the Anees Bazmee directed affair had to do was maintain this average in order to stay in contention for a second week run.
The film is fighting it out currently and has managed a decent screen count in the second week as well. Though Jab Harry Met Sejal has seen a big release, Mubarakan hasn't been entirely eclipsed as there is still visibility out there. Moreover, even though it is expected that there would be further drop in collections today, the film should come on its own right from Saturday and Sunday and then to Monday due to Rakhi.
Mubarakan is one of the more liked films of the year and a terrific opening would have placed it in such a comfortable state. Though Arjun Kapoor's Half Girlfriend would still stay on at the top due to Rs. 10.27 crore opening day and then Rs. 60.25 crore lifetime, he would still be okay to get a lifetime of Rs. 50 crore with Mubarakan, which would make it a hat-trick affair for him after Ki & Ka that had brought in Rs. 51 crore.
As for Anil Kapoor, he has proven once again that he is the man to look forward when it comes to being versatile each time around, Dil Dhadakne Do being his other recent example. One now keenly looks forward to what filmmaker Anees Bazmee has to bring in next since he has proven once again that he knows the pulse of the family audience. Of course, things would have been much more different had the opening been in lines with the merits of the film. However, the fact that Mubarakan hung on well is a testimony to the fact that as a director, Anees Bazmee has indeed done his job.
