The Aamir Khan – Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan released last week. With a massive screen count and immense publicity the film which has been one of the most keenly anticipated releases opening with a bang. However, with the mixed reviews and rather unsavoury word of mouth the business of Thugs of Hindostan took a beating at the box office.
Now after a week long run in theatres we take a look at the opening week collections of Thugs of Hindostan while comparing the same to previous releases of 2018. Collecting Rs. 140.40 cr, Aamir Khan’s Thugs of Hindostan has managed beat Tiger Shroff’s previous release Baaghi 2 that had collected Rs. 112.85 cr to claim the fourth spot on the highest opening week grossers of 2018 list. If that wasn’t all, the opening week business of Thugs of Hindostan has managed to place the film higher up on the list as compared to certain other releases as well like, Gold that collected Rs. 87.30 cr, Satyameva Jayate that collected Rs. 68.25 cr, Badhaai Ho that collected Rs. 66.40 cr, Raid that collected Rs. 63.05 cr, and Sui Dhaaga that collected Rs. 62.50 cr. However, the business of Thugs of Hindostan is unable to surpass the collections of other releases like Sanju that collected Rs. 202.51 cr, and Padmaavat that collected Rs. 166.50 cr.
As of now, with the second weekend approaching the business of Thugs of Hindostan is likely to see growth. But given the audiences waning interest in the film, coupled with new releases hitting screens it is more than likely that Thugs of Hindostan will face a tough road ahead at the box office.
