After its release and subsequent success within the Indian market the Aamir Khan film, Dangal hit screens in China. Though the film released in China months after its worldwide release in December 2016, it has not only managed to entice and enthral the audience but has also captured the Chinese box office emerging as one of the highest grossing Indian film’s within this territory.
After performing superbly over its opening week, the business of Dangal continued to witnessed sustained growth though the following weeks with each weekend showing a spike in collections over the previous one. In fact, Dangal fast over took its competition within the Chinese market topping charts as the highest grosser week after week. Now on its 26 day in China, Dangal has raked in a further USD 6.34 million [Rs. 40.92 cr] at the box office. However, the film ranks as the second highest grosser with the top slot being held by the recent Hollywood release Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. However, Dangal still manages to outperform most other releases within the Chinese market.
With this the current total collections of Dangal at the Chinese box office stands at a staggering USD 151.89 million [Rs. 980.56 cr]. Looking at this and given the fact that Dangal which still enjoys the audience’s favour, the film’s business is expected to increase further crossing the Rs. 1000 crore mark in the coming days.
