It’s going to be an interesting next few days ahead as number of films would be crossing various milestones quite close to each other. The ones in the running are 83, Spider-Man: No Way Home and Pushpa (Hindi) and each one has a different box office club awaiting them.
Let’s talk about 83 first. This was a film which was being seen as a most definite Rs. 150 Crore Club entrant at least, if not the Rs. 200 Crore Club. Unfortunately, it hasn’t quite met the expectations commercially speaking, though critically it’s one of the most well received and appreciated film of the year. Though one can pin down number of reasons around why the film hasn’t quite reached the kind of distance that it deserved to, the fact remains that now its best case scenario for the Ranveer Singh starrer is a Rs. 100 Crore Club entry. The film has collected 66.66 crores so far and the festive weekend ahead should help normalise the footfalls to some extent at least.
As for Spider-Man: No Way Home, it’s time to get into the 200 Crore Club this weekend. There is continued traction coming in for the film and it now stands at Rs. 186.42 crores after bringing in Rs. 3.40 crores on Wednesday. The collections stay on to be the second best of the day after 83 but then it’s also in the second week so that’s understandable. The Marvel superhero flick will benefit from no new release this weekend and that should allow sustained numbers over the weekend to take it past the Rs. 200 crores mark. BLOCKBUSTER.
On the other hand, Pushpa (Hindi) is enjoying its own parallel run, especially at the single screens. The film is going super strong with Rs. 45.50 crores already in its kitty so far and a lot more still to come. In fact zero competition from anything new in theatres is further going to help it collect, especially at the single screens where it is finding maximum traction, and that should take it past the half century mark in a matter of next 3 days, if not 2 days itself. HIT.
