Bollywood can heave a sigh of relief. After a few terrible weeks in succession, there has been respite for the industry with Dangal doing excellent business all over. There was no film that exceeded expectations since the release of M.S. Dhoni - The Untold Story. When one expected a few Superhits to add on to the Bollywood report card in the last quarter of 2016, all that one had to contend with was one clean hit [Ae Dil Hai Mushkil] that managed to enter the 100 Crore Club. Certainly, audiences deserved better and this is where Aamir Khan, Nitesh Tiwari and their Dangal turned out to be great news for everyone out there.
On the last day of the year, Dangal brought in Rs. 22.72 crore more and with this the collections now stand at Rs. 238.85 crore. The film has continued to show consistent collections all over and though in some of the major cities there were lesser footfalls towards the evening and night shows (due to New Year parties being held at other happening spots), interiors were not affected as much due to which numbers were still very huge.
Today, the morning shows may get a little impacted at multiplexes but that would be more than compensated since it is Sunday. As a matter of fact expect a major jump when compared with yesterday. It won't be surprising if the numbers turn out to be greater than last Monday when Rs. 25.69 crore had come in. The film has to cover a huge distance today as from tomorrow it would be back to normal days, what with people returning from holidays and heading back to work. Numbers that would be fetched today would have a huge bearing on how much further does Dangal travel past the 300 crore mark.
