After much hype and promotions we finally saw the release of the Salman Khan starrer Bharat. Directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, the film which hit 4000 screens in the domestic market also features Katrina Kaif, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover. Hitting screens on the festive occasion of Eid, Bharat was expected to open with a bang, and living up to expectations the film has started on a thunderous note.

Collecting Rs. 42.3 cr on its opening day Bharat has managed to surpass the collections of Salman Khan’s previous releases to become the actor’s highest opening day grosser ever. In fact, the Day 1 collections of Bharat, have far exceeded the estimated Rs. 35 cr figure, effectively surpassing Salman’s previous releases like Prem Ratan Dhan Payo that collected Rs. 40.35 cr, Tiger Zinda Hai that collected Rs. 34.10 cr, Ek Tha Tiger that collected Rs. 32.93 cr, Race 3 that collected Rs 29.17 cr, Bajrangi Bhaijaan that collected Rs. 27.25 cr, Kick that collected Rs. 26.40 cr, Bodyguard that collected Rs. 21.60 cr, Tubelight that collected Rs. 21.15 cr, Dabangg 2 that collected Rs. 21.10 cr, Jai Ho that collected Rs. 17.55 cr, and Dabangg that had collected Rs. 14.50 cr.
With Bharat opening with a bang, surpassing all expectations, all that remains to be seen is whether the film goes on to become one of the highest grossing releases this year. If that wasn’t all, given the fact that Bharat enjoys a five day extended festive weekend, predictions state that the film is more than likely to cross the Rs. 100 cr mark within three days.
