Article 15 has done well in its first week at the Box Office. The film opened at Rs. 5.02 crores on Friday, grew over the weekend and then stayed above the Rs. 3 crore right through the weekdays. On Thursday too the film accumulated Rs. 3.05 crores more and with this the overall collections now stand at Rs. 34.21 crores.
Considering the fact that this is a niche film, one would have expected a number like this to be a lifetime score and even that would have been fine. However, from being just a profitable film to actually emerge as a successful affair, Article 15 has done well to stay solid right through.
Anubhav Sinha’s last release Mulk was a well-made affair too but hadn’t really got its due theatrically and closed just over the Rs. 20 crores mark. However with Article 15 he has more than made up for it and now the collections would comfortably go past the Rs. 50 crores mark at least. In fact the new Hindi releases of the week have hardly seen much of a showcasing and hence Article 15 would stay on to be audience preferred choice after Kabir Singh.
