The Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial Animal starring Ranbir Kapoor released over a week ago. Also starring Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, and Rashmika Mandanna the film, which hit screens on December 1, opened to a thunderous response from the audience. In fact, with positive feedback from critics and a wide rate of advance bookings, Animal saw its collections grow exponentially over its opening weekend and first week. Subsequently on its second weekend running, Animal, that still held the audiences interest, saw its collections spike yet again, with over Rs. 90 crores coming in.
In this box office report, we look at the overall business of Animal while comparing the same to previous releases that have made it past the highly coveted Rs. 400 crores mark. Collecting a massive Rs. 434.02 crores in just 10 days of its release, the Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal has emerged as the second all-time fastest Rs. 400 crores grosser. Though the film comes in just behind the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan that had collected Rs. 410.43 crores in 9 days of its release, the business of Animal does manage to overshadow other releases like, Pathaan that took 12 days, Gadar 2 that took 12 days, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion that took 18 days and KGF – Chapter 2 that took 23 days to cross the Rs. 400 crores mark.
Currently, Animal continues to run in theatres with audience patronizing the film in droves. Given this positive audience reaction, and the fact that Animal faces little to no competition, trade predictions state that the business of the Ranbir Kapoor starrer will continue to see growth well into its second week running. In fact, optimistic estimates claim that the overall business of the film could even go past the Rs. 450 crores mark by the end of its second week running.
