It was an excellent weekend for Adipurush as it garnered Rs. 113.50 crores in just the Hindi version. There are very few films that have scored a century in their opening weekend itself and the Om Raut directed mythological epic drama is one such affair. The film took a bumper opening for itself and though there weren’t any major jumps in the course of the week, there was sustainability for sure as a result of which the day-on-day collections looked excellent.
That can well be seen from the fact that Sunday collections went to Rs. 38.25 crores mark and that’s absolutely superb. This shows that the film is not just about advance booking but also spot booking because without that, such kind of numbers are impossible to achieve. It also shows that there is a large segment of audiences which is actually liking the film otherwise the walk-ins would have been bare minimum.
In the process, the film is now already the fourth highest grossing Hindi film of 2023, what with the entire lifetime of the next best film in line, Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (Rs. 110.53 crores), has been surpassed in a matter of just three days. That one was a holiday release whereas Adipurush is a non-holiday release and still the records are being set. In fact, by Wednesday, the entire lifetime of Tu Jhoothi Main Makkaar (Rs. 147 crores) would be history as well and this is the time when Adipurush will begin its journey towards being the second best as the next big target is The Kerala Story (Rs. 242 crores). Pathaan would remain unassailable though since the Hindi version itself had collected a massive Rs. 525 crores.
