Punjabi Film Overtakes Biggies!

It was meant to be a clash of two multi-starrers, ELAAN and INSAN. Instead, a Punjabi film, starring Gurdas Maan and Juhi Chawla, overtook the two biggies in U.K. That's the sheer beauty of this business - it's simply unpredictable.
In U.S.A., VEER-ZAARA is nearing the $ 3 million mark!


U.K. BOX-OFFICE

[Weekend: January 14 - 16, 2005]

  • ELAAN has debuted at No. 19 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 37,717 [approx. Rs. 30.75 lacs] on 19 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,985.

  • DES HOYAA PARDES [Punjabi] has debuted at No. 23 position. In its opening weekend, the film has collected £ 27,723 [approx. Rs. 22.60 lacs] on 6 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 4,621.

  • VAADA [last weekend: No. 18, this weekend: No. 25]: In its second weekend, the film has collected £ 18,062 on 17 screens, with the per screen average working out to £ 1,062. The total so far has been £ 82,439 [approx. Rs. 67.26 lacs].
