Will Saif hit a ton?

By Bollywood Hungama

The '100 cr Club', a terminology coined by this writer, is on the mind of every single actor today. Those who achieve the distinction want to go beyond what they have accomplished. Those who haven't, yearn zealously that their next movie makes it there. Aamir Khan, Salman Khan, Ajay Devgn, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan -- in that order -- are members of this elusive club. It's now Saif Ali Khan's turn to hit a ton.

Come to think of it, AGENT VINOD has all the trappings of a masala entertainer. Besides, it comes at a time when Saif and Kareena are much-in-news for reasons personal and professional. The film is having a wide release in India and Overseas and is expected to fetch a buoyant start on its opening day. Thereafter, the content will do the talking and will decide whether the film has the stamina to attain the feat.

Bond movies have had a great run at the Indian box-office. The James Bond series have been warmly embraced in India and most desi adaptations too, right from FARZ to SURAKKSHA [Oh, how can one ever forget Gun Master G9], have had the junta clapping and whistling at the protagonist's heroism. AGENT VINOD is an updated, much more refined version of the desi Bond series, with the suave Saif playing a complete charmer.

The examination period may act as a spoilsport for AGENT VINOD initially, but I strongly believe that if the content is well appreciated, it can brave any storm -- cricket, exams, politics, natural calamities, anything. The countdown has begun for one of the eagerly anticipated movies of our times…

The success of PAAN SINGH TOMAR and KAHAANI has come as a 440 volts ka jhatka to all those naysayers who undermine the potential of low cost, hi-concept movies. The success of KAHAANI in particular is an eye-opener, more so because a lot of people are of the opinion that suspense films run out of steam after the first week -- once the suspense is out. But the show of strength of KAHAANI at the box-office only reiterates the fact that there's no stopping a good film. High five to that!
