It is said that marriages are made in heaven... but they sure have to be managed here on earth. Is there an infallible plan for a perfect marriage? SHAADI KE SIDE/EFFECTS, a delicious take on contemporary marriages, makes an endeavor to provide the answers...
SHAADI KE SIDE/EFFECTS had everything going in its favor: interesting cast, attention-grabbing premise, good pre-release buzz, strong visibility, no major opposition to contend with, glowing reviews and positive word of mouth. The genre holds universal appeal, but the screenplay as well as the execution of the written material makes it a multiplex offering. And the film has behaved exactly the way it was expected to, performing very well at multiplexes/urban centres, besides registering good growth over the weekend.
Farhan Akhtar's credibility post ZINDAGI NA MILEGI DOBARA and BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG had multiplied the expectations from this well-made film. Like HASEE TOH PHASEE and HIGHWAY, which were also targeted at the multiplexes, SHAADI KE SIDE/EFFECTS too gathered momentum before the opening day came to a close. Day 2 [Sat] was better than Day 1 [Fri], while Day 3 [Sun] was rocking as well. This clearly indicates that its target audience has loved the film.
The weekend biz of SHAADI KE SIDE/EFFECTS is indeed noteworthy, primarily because the release of the film coincided with the examination period. Moreover, the cricket match between India and Pakistan [on Sun] kept a chunk of the movie-going audiences away from cineplexes. Thanks to the growth in biz over the weekend, one expects the biz to remain steady on weekdays at urban centres mainly.
