With an array of animated features ready to hit the silver screen, Anifest India 2009 hosted a technical sneak peek of Nikhil Advani’s maiden animation film Delhi Safari, courtesy Anand Bhanushali, the Technical Director of the film.
The film – produced by People Tree and animated at Krayon Picutres – traces the journey of a group of wild animals from Mumbai to Delhi and revolves around a leopard family of three – Sultan (Suniel Shetty), Sultan’s wife Begum (Urmila Matondkar) and the cub Yuvraj (Ayesha Takia).
Explaining the pre-production process of the film, Anand said, “Our friends actually traveled from Mumbai to Delhi for locations, images and discovered incidents which could be placed in the movie. A team of 130 artists at Krayon Pictures has been working on Delhi Safari from the past two years.”
In addition to the key characters and almost 300 props, the movie features a whopping 17 animation characters including a parrot, a monkey and a pigeon. Anand then explained in detail the processes that went behind the making of Delhi Safari.
The production of the animation included critical asset building, where the team at Krayon Pictures heavily focused on the eminence of Modeling, Rigging, CFX, Foliage and also on Research and Technology. During the shot production of the movie, the team focused on the Layouts, Shot Finalizing, Lighting, Matte and Compositing.
