The movie is very low budget and ordinary, nothing novel in the plot and screenply. The dialogues, photography, acting etc. all are very very ordinary and casual. It does not seems that you are watching a movie, many TV serials seen earlier on similar topic. Ranbir who act as a final year college student of Mumbai but he seems so childish and immature which now a days is not real. Its not bad but its not good enough to go and watch into multiplexes and spend so much money.

Ok let me put it this way. We are very eager to go and watch this movie from so long. We bought the tickets and went to find this is very disapointing. From the beginning the movie was not very catching. I found the movie a mix of Taare Zamin Par and Dil Chahta Hai , Lakshya and bla bla ...The movie was not going any where in 1st 15 minutes itself. Everyone can guess what he is going to do. It is the same old story..you can say it is TZP for a guy. I am really dissapointed with the script, screenply camera every thing in this movie. I am still not sure what Kashmira was doing in this movie and what character she was potrying. The chemistry between Konkana and Ranbir was boring. Actors like Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak are a complete waste. Director should have thought about these actors bofore giving them a role. Konkana should reinvent herself as I feel she is just repeatig herself. She has done almost a similar character like Luck By Chance. Not good to watch. Shankar, E and Loy are actually very repeating. The music were similar to TZP. However, GOONZ from Amit Trivedi was really good. Other than evrything in the movie is boring.

Before I start reviewing this movie, I have something to shout out loud.. Finally...!! Finally a movie that makes sense. Pheww... Every friday I waited for a movie that'll break the Jinx of Poor Movie playing on the Box Office. This was the first movie that I watched as a sneak peak on the night before the release,(Sneaked out of the office - finished my testcases on time to reach the multiplex on time :P ) so this one has to be special and is worth it. Wake Up Sid is something special, something that'll remain with you for sometime. I don't know why did it seemed to be a mix of few flicks that have passed my mind - Tare Zameen Par (Ranbir being Darsheel Sr. :P ) that tells you that there is something special in you and also Lakshya - You are special only you need to prove. The story is not a hidding from anyone and dumbest of dumbs can make out the outline. But what i would love to cover are few performances and scenes worth mentioning. Let's start of with Sidhharth Mehra A.K.A Sid, no prizes for guessing his traits but acclords to Ranbir Kapoor for having potrayed them so well and with ease. This kid has actually grown up and woken up to be the next big thing to happen to Bollywood. He was a new born in Saawaria and I never thought that he would be that good, but things changed after Bachna Ae Haseeno, and now surely have gone quite a notches up for me. Ok, so next up is Ms. Aisha Banerjee, she is the new girl in the city - Bombay.. whoopsi daisy, how dare I write Bombay - call it Mumbai, No MNS trouble for me please. Konkona is surely different from the mainstream league and fits into the role so beautiful that she surely answers the question that might have come into your minds for thousand times - They could have had a better match with Ranbir, why only Konkona Sen. She answers her critics well with her beautiful potrayal of Aisha, an ambitous girl from Kolkata who comes to Mumbai with loads of dreams and meets Sid. Meet Ram Mehra - Anupam Kher, he does not have the quantity of role in the movie but for sure he does have the quality. He has potrayed the role of Sid's father with so perfection that for time you would see your dad in him, and the situations would seem real, something that you would have surely been through in your life. He surely does make you feel, yeah the dads are the one who earn for you, pay your credit bills and raise you the best way the can, however don't take them for granted. Now, how can i forget to mention few people who add up to this good lighthearted romantic drama - Sid's mother played by Supriya Pathak, who can't help herself in the english vocabolary but sure does make the cute effort like most of the mom's do to keep up with their sons and daughters and the generation. Also to mention the friends and the special moments and times they spend with Sid, through thicks and thins - these first timers (sorry guys i don't know your real names) have done well. There are few scenes you'll love, smile and cry - like the one where Sid has fight with his parents, the one where he clicks pictures of the neighbour's son and like wise many more. The movie is a must watch, for yourself, where you'll find yourself as Sid. Also for your parents to understand that why do parents run after your life. You'll get all the answers, answers that there is a Sid in each one of us. I'd love to rate this as a 4/5. And last but not the least special mention for two people, one Anil Mehta for such a beautiful cimenametography, he surely makes the movie look so fresh and pretty and a soother to the eyes - you'll fall in love with Aish's flat for sure. And second, hats off to Ayan Mukherjee, the debutant director - he surely has pulled off a cool movie, a fresh flick and a beautiful one. Just as the song iktara which is lovely and soothing in the movie, so is the movie - there is something for everyone to fall in love with. Wake Up ... It's a go go must watch :)

Perception goes wrong with Wake up Sid. The movie seemed to show a glimpse of college life, some hang-around scenes with friends, a touch of DCH and a screenplay that takes you to a ride at 120 Kmph. But all that glitter is not gold. The movie started well for first few minutes, creating an interesting platform about Sid's life where he is distracted from studies and attracted towards the fast food generation, with friends playing a much important role in his life than parents...but the simplicity of the story is not at all treated in a way to create a 2-2.5 hr show. Aayan Mukerjee was at his best in presenting a set of predictable scenes which were too short-lived that they could not hold attention of the audience. If it was a campus story then it didn’t had the reflection of friendship or even the 20% of Dil Chahta Hai, if it was a story of youth that is confused about its ambitions and lack of sense of responsibilities then it didn’t had the scenes and the dialogues to arouse the humour or emotional quotient similar to “Lakshyaâ€, if it was a movie depicting transition of friendship into love then the screenplay failed in giving thrust to the feeling that one had in “Jane tu ya Jaane na†and the reasons were the obvious scenes and a stretched storyline which had nothing left to say after the first hour. Aayan can be a good director but needs to be crisp in the art of story telling. Ranbir is improving with every movie and will catch hold of directors like Imtiaz Ali and Tarun Mansukhani. Konkana is good but has a poor commercial value. Rahul Khanna is decent but has nothing much to call for a supporting actor role. A much better arrangement was expected from Shankar Ehsaan Loy after “Rock on†but they failed to touch the storyline except in couple of nos. like “Wake up Sid†and “Iktaraâ€. Overall the movie has nothing to catch upon big screen, no music, no entertainment, no humour and no star cast and thus can be kept on hold till one gets a pirated version.

'WAKE UP SID' IS 'DIL CHAHATA HAI' OF 2009!!! SIMPLY GREAT!!!! At times everything about the movie looks good, the performances are great but because of weak writing, the film overall becomes average or below average (like What's Your Raashee? A good film but sufferred due to its length and poor writing. I am feeling sorry for Piggy Chopps as she really worked hard for WYR?) But not is the case with WAKE UP SID. Wake Up Sid rocks in all departments...be it direction, cinematography, writing, music, marketing and ofcourse acting (RANBIR AND KONKANA ROCKED!!!)Ranbir is here to stay would be an understatement now and Konkana is Konkana! Supporting cast Anupam Kher and Supriya Pathak are great value adds to the movie. The new director has done a good job. The movie is a very good time pass and you dont feel bored even for once. Though the second half, specially the ending is slightly stretched but never mind. LOT OF US I AM SURE WOULD GO TO SEE THIS MOVIE AGAIN...however...oops!!!the ticket rates have gone really high..a normal ticket is now costing around 300/- in a decent multiplex! All in all...a great movie..one of the best movies of 2009. It will take Ranbir's career to new heights, will make Konkana's position much more strong and also is going to win loads and tons of awards....if not more Ranbir and Konkana might surely win Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor and Actress.
