This movie was a fresh movie like Dil Chahta Hai - with nothing indian masala style -- it was just a realistic experience -- you have to do what you believe is right but not everyone is as lucky as Sid with his powerful background -- its a message for people that do not waste time because it certainly does not come back... Excellent movie and great chemistry between konkona and ranbir ... really liked the movie -- some awesome songs as well iktara and Baawra ... msut watch movie 4.5/5

Its a very good film...clean and a very smart film..Acting by every one was tooo good!!! Overall love it!! Konkana and Ranbir's acting was amazing...their chemistry totally worked!! No one else could do their roles...songs were very very good!! so refreshing...cried in the last version of iktara....loved the way ranbir's character shaped up...that was the higlight of the film....the way he was ..immature, kiddish, rebellious, wanted to just enjoy life and how he becomes independent is shown so well...i loved it!!! and even konkana..has a major part in the film.....she thought shes very mature than ranbir and thought hes too kiddy and shes too independent and how she realizes that she enjoys ranbir's company more than over matured people...very well shown....

Wake up Sid tries very hard to be what it wasn’t from the very beginning. Several pieces of different themes and movies have been accumulated but put together just randomly, thus, leaving us with something not as rich, deep, soulful and memorable as we would have liked. Debutant Director Ayan Mukherjee chooses a trodden plot about an “I have my father’s wealth†spoilt rich lad whose life, even after college wanders aimlessly as those around him gear up for newer challenges. Needless to say, Ayan has chosen to follow Farhan Akhtar’s path based on ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ and ‘Lakshya’. There are numerous resemblances to the characters of Aamir Khan and Hrithik Roshan from those movies that we see in Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Sid’ and he does well to take whatever comes in his grasp but sadly, that is not much. The story has nothing new to offer. We saw the carefree Aakash having fun for half of Dil Chahta Hai and then taking a serious detour by joining his father’s business in Australia turning into a responsible Man in the end. We saw young and goal-less Karan enjoying his life without a clear direction until his failure in one initiative motivates him, instead of cowardly abandoning the dream ship. Lakshya was not only about Peak 5171 in the Kargil War but it was the triumph of human spirit. The story of an aimless boy who found a new purpose for living that made him motivated and responsible. Wake up Sid has nothing deep enough for the mind and soul. Sid is just another rich lad who fails his last year in college, has no girlfriend, is disinterested in his family business and does not excel in anything he can make a living out of for himself. Instead of sympathy for his character, what we are left with at times is disbelief of such a character. (Aisha) Konkana Sen Sharma from Kolkata is the exact opposite of Sid. Driven, ambitious, independent and serious about life, she arrives in Bombay to begin a new life in the ever changing city where she thinks that the only unchanged element is the Arabian Sea. Tee hee! Sid can never see life through Aisha’s eyes but he does take up her offer to work as an intern photographer for a magazine. Suddenly, Sid discovers that he indeed has some talent and he decides that he will pursue this as his career. In the end, Sid rejoins his family (but remains the photographer), his dear friend Aisha in whom he discovers love and they all live happily ever after. Although, Ranbir Kapoor gives his best performance in 3 films and Konkana lives up to her standards, Wake up Sid never reaches any high notes. Anupam Kher barely has a role that would not even need any retakes from him whereas the rest of the supporting cast is at most, forgettable. The movie begins with the title track, giving little scope for it to help elevate the movie down the road unlike Shankar Ehsaan & Loy’s version of Lakshya. Iktara is the most memorable part of the movie. The song is superbly rendered by Kavita Seth and Amitabh Bhattacharya with music that one would love to listen to on a rainy morning standing in the balcony overlooking the Arabian Sea. The tune has an unforgettable note to it that will have people humming it for quite some time. Tochi Raina’s version of Iktara is also majestic in his rendition with simple notes and consistent rhythm. Ayan Mukherjee had little scope with the plot of Wake up Sid and he may have done fairly well with that concept but being its co-writer, it is a bit of a let down. With just a few shades of romance, intensity, tragedy, comedy and the lack of depth in a predictable story, Wake up Sid is a regular affair at the movies. Can be caught on its ‘World Premier’ on satellite t.v. - 6.89 on a scale of 1-10.

WAKE UP S!D woke me up. Indian film industry has moved soo much. This year they started off slow but by the middle of the year they were able to release some really good movies. One movie that brought life to the screen is WAKE UP S!D. I watched this movie and each and I could relate myself to each and every element.

Had tremendous expectations frm the movie, but it didnt live up to them, nevertheless, it wasnt that bad either, the scenes between ranbir n konkona were too slow, good music n a superb performance from ranbir make the movie worthwhile.ranbir shows that he is one for the future.
