What else can you expect from Boyle? A simple, realistic story, fun and exciting dance, great acting, and a romantic love story. That's it. That's all you need to make an excellent story. You don't need glamor, you don't need big actors. This doesn't have a complex story, which you CAN'T relate too. This shows the true India, and you HAVE to admit it. Why, doesn't it happen in India? Of course it does! This movie isn't a mockery to Bollywood, it serves it JUSTICE, not MOCKERY. What, if a Bollywood film shows it, WHY can't a WHITE MAN show it? Danny Boyle isn't racist, if you think he's racist, then why did he choose AR RAHMAN to do the music? Anyways, I am getting off-topic, this movie is nothing short of perfect, it has everything you want to see in an international film, that's why its getting a nomination for BEST PICTURE, and BEST SOUNDTRACK. This movie is "The Bomb". The cast was perfect. If you can't appreciate the fundamentals of a movie, then you shouldn't watch a movie at all...

A class movie ... I have seeen what happens to kids and how they are exploited and its true...india is not country of ppl who sit in all A/C rooms and sip coffee. We are what we are. we have issues of poverty and many more. This film is absolutely a delightful film.

It already EXISTS!!People criticizing the movie does not have problem with scolding children beggars on local trains or harassing their domestic help if she asks for an advance, but when its depicted in an international film we become touchy!!The movie is frigging AWESOME and not to be missed at any chance. Lets get one thing straight. I give a damm who directed or produced a movie or how many awards it has won. Its the movie and story that connects with you and this movie does at high level! The soul and heart of the movie is very very Indian. It does not show Mumbai in bad light throughout the movie.It shows that inspite of living in these conditions ppl r happy, they have hope. In the latter half it shows all the development in Mumbai and the protagonist pointing that "THERE USED TO BE OUR SLUMS CAN U BELIEVE IT". It shoes ppl cheering for an underdog rather than being jealous. It shows tht there are opportunities and its upon you how u make it. The cinematography is awesome. It serenades Mumbai. It shows you how the city is, close to reality. No movie has shown Mumbai the way this shows with all bad and good light. Of all the actors the youngest lot are the real stars especially youngest Jamal. U ll cry, laugh with him and will remember him even after movie is over. Music is top notch without doubt. Sure there are glitches but the positive points are far larger than negatives. And lets get one thing straight. India has manyyy flaws. Its a quasi democracy with Raj Thackerays harassing ppl and we looking like a puppet. These r ppl who r real terrorist and shame on us and be glad tht Danny didnt show him!!!! Rather than crying foul we should look at positive things tht this movie can bring jobs for our technicians. All ppl saying tht had it been made by Indian director it would not have won awards worldwide which is true bcos it wud not have received recognition even in India!!! Lets get one fact clear: real gems in Indian industry are not appreciated but BIG MORONS like Akki and SRK are who cant act!! How many have actually seen Satyajit Ray's movies. How many have actually seen real gems like Black friday or Tahaan or Dharm?? We give imp to big stars mindless flicks like Rab ne and cc2c but not deserving one, so we should not cry foul!!! well, if we talk about the direction, acting, presentation all are wonderful. The music is mindblowing, no doubt on that. But I have problem with the reality they are showing. This movie is not an Indian movie. The director is a british, language is English. They are just using India to show slum. Talk about slum in India, go to other countries. Even England has its own problem. Why the hack he did not show that. No we will show India, the third world country full of slum. Then how the hell a slum dog can speak fluent english. By being with foreigners, come on. Two years with foreigners and a kid with poor education start speaking english. And people talk about reality, India has thousand other realities, show them. India is fastest growing economy after China. We went up to moon, our army is third largets. One of the biggest IT sector in world. Thechnology is wonderful. In education, Indians are ahead of most of the world. India is the long lasting civilization. And all the nominations in golden globe and oscar are because of the crew of movie on the bases of their work. It is not based on the movie's image to world. Every one is saying it's mindblowing because of these nominations. One thing, it's not an Indian movie. If it was, it would be nominated as foreign movie, it did not. So stop the bullshit of India movie. No one cares which movie gets national award nominations, but osacr and golden globe is everything. No Indian movie gets that many nominations, it only gets one nomination as a foreign movie. The director only used India to show slum. On the verge of winning 20 million rupees on the game show ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’ with just one question to go, the Slumdog, 18 year old Jamal Malik (Dev Patel) is arrested by the Mumbai Police for investigation, taken by surprise as to how an orphan from the slums can do so well in a show where far more educated and knowledgeable people have been bamboozled .Now Jamal has been labeled a cheat and he has to prove otherwise. As the interrogation begins, he recounts the incidents from his childhood as he recalls experiences through the Bombay slums of Juhu to the child orphanage to the Indian hinterland and back again to now Mumbai, working in a restaurant and later as a chaiwallah in a call center and explains how he knew the answers. The questions that he is thrown across in the show have had some link to the events that have shaped his life uptill now. But its not that he is always helped by these coincidental experiences in his life, Jamal uses his sharp mind, logic and eidetic memory to sail through the quiz. The most special moments being when he has to answer as to who has the record for the maximum first class centuries. And all through this; the story unfolds of childhood love, lost brother, abject penury but also of survival, street smartness, optimism and hope. The great thing about Slumdog Millionaire is its unapologetic portrayal of the slums of Bombay, probably helped by the fact that the Danny Boyle is British and shot it as an outsider without any compunction while showcasing the city’s underbelly. Most of the film is set in Bombay and there is no shot of Marine Drive overpass, instead there are compelling, varied and churning vignettes of Bombay. Every scene is rich in detail with subtle allegories, with screenplay by Simon Beaufoy. Just for the casting, the team, especially Loveleen should be applauded. Be it the child actors,Freida Pinto,Anil Kapoor,Irrfan Khan, Madhur Mittal,Mahesh Manjrekar or Saurabh Shukla,all are very good. Each performance is honest and in perfect symphony with the need of the script. And as if the visuals were not enough to captivate and hold attention, the music and background score (A R Rahman) envelopes you into a thoroughly enjoyable cinematic experience.Slumdog Millionaire is a vibrant film and it possesses universal appeal because of its earthiness and the believability attained by its characters.Slumdog millionaire portrays cinematic excellence and the awards that are being showered upon it are thoroughly deserved and its Oscar recognition is inevitable.
