Why have so many negative points been raised towards this Fantastic Movie? Time and agian the SLUMS have been portrayed in many bollywood movies, no one took notice then? Is it because it took a foreign Director to portray the spirit of India? That is what the movie does.. Yes it is based on the SLUMS, but we cannot object to something that is there! The movie shows the spirit of the children in the slums, their dreams, their aspirations & the spirit that they can do something about it too! Go watch this amazingly directed movie. You will not regret it.

Showing Indian poverty is OK. But showing Indians as eye-plucking, bllod-thirsty, child-harassing people is offensive.
A scene of Hindus killing Muslims which was never there in the original book by Vikas Swarup was introduced. In the Original movie the hero was not even Jamal Malik He was Ram-Mohammad-thomas - a "true Indian". The killing is shown in the movie as if hindus woke up one day and decided to go on a "Muslim-hunt" without any reason. I guess if you offend the hindus, people will appreciate the movie, if you offend Christians, the movie will not win an Oscar and if you offend Muslims, you will die.

I can't say anything that hasn't already been said about the movie. Absolutely breathtaking and a very uplifting movie. Dev and Freida play their parts amazingly. The kids who play Jamal, Salim, and Latika are also amazing. Danny Boyle has made one great cinematic masterpiece. The music is amazing thanks to our beloved A.R. Rahman. The story, cinematography, acting, script, screenplay, everything is perfect. It has been added to the list of my favorite movies as one of my favorite movies of all time.
