I personally like RGV as a director, the acting of two greats-Amitabh-Abhishek....so my expectation was so high....at first let me tell you, i was spellbounded by the movie after seeing it....What a power pack performances of every artists....Ramu always chooses the character with perfection. Amitabh has once again shown that age is no bar if anyone can fully dedicated to a character....I am lacking my words to say about Abhishek....he is showing everyone how an actor can perform better than his own best performances till date....Oh man Abhishek is the by far best actor in current date in this generation(I am talking about acting and body language in acting). I personally think Ash is not a very good actress, but its the magic of the masters (Mani Ratnam and Ramu) that Ash is giving some great performances (in Guru and now in Sarkar Raj)....And lastly honestly speaking, I am bit relief that Ramu has maintained the faith that Amitabh had upon him, with pride....I was so upset that RGV Ki Aag would break the pair Amitabh and Ramu....but thankfully Ramu has overcomed it....why not, its the characteristic of every uality and talented director. I must mention the Superv background scores by Debasish Mishra perfectly using the Govinda Govinda song. The camera work was outstanding, the camera was just at the perfect angles in the action scenes and emotional scenes. It was real pleasure to see the way of the camera following closeups of Amitabh and Abhishek, perfectly extracting the acting of body language. Editing was also just perfect. So, overall this movie is one of the few movies that we feel lucky as a spectator of Bollywood.

I went into Sarkar Raj hoping it to be the redemption film for Ram Gopal Varma since he has not been in his elements with his past few offerings at the box office with Sarkar being his last bonafide hit in 2005 and he does exactly that and its heartening since he is one of the few genuine talented and innovation oriented filmmakers of the country. So here s how the story unfolds.. Hotshot CEO of a London based energy firm Anita Rajan (Rai) has an ambitious plan of setting upon a power plant in Thakurwadi in hinterland Maharashtra, which Subhash Nagre is opposed to initially but Shankar Nagre foresees its benefits and convinces him and embarks upon to get the support of the locals. What follows is a labyrinthine political tale of deceit and power. The good thing about Ramu is that he doesn’t waste time establishing the various characters ,they do so as the film moves on with their deeds and that’s why he can pack in so many of them in a two hour narrative. Also no one treats silence on celluloid as he does which is evident with the one minute on each side of the interval, ample proof that silence speaks louder than words. I also liked the vantage as well as ankle height camera shots. The conversations are exchange of one liners punctuated with silences pregnant with searing drama. Unlike the last film, the once impregnable fortress like bungalow is suddenly susceptible to bombs and his intelligence network not as sharp to which one of the family members falls victim and another in the second and the scriptwriter should be given credit for imagining the intricate plots. But the film is not without negatives either as almost throughout the screen is blacked out or dimly lit which is overdone but which has nonetheless become a style of the franchise which in all evidence pointing would be back for a third installment. There’s an overdose of emphasis that the project is so good for Maharashtra and its people, which sounds like Mr.Bachchan making a political point in real life. A little more dash of Marathi in the narrative would have emphasized the point much better. Performance wise Aishwarya is sufficiently adequate, Junior B brooding and moving in Italian suits is good, the guy playing an animated version of Raj Thackeray is impressive in a short role, Govind Namdev is fantastically menacing with his sayings without meanings .Sarkar (the character) looks a pale shadow of his own self until the last reels, when even though he plans and executes half a dozen killings, you empathize with him and here’s where Big b truly stamps his authority as an actor. But as he says†murder is not right but murder at the right time is politics†Being a factory product, better editing was expected in both the halfs. The film is a must watch, for you won’t be able to predict who is the culprit and be particularly be prepared for the shock turn mid way through the second half. I will give it a three star rating, but finally Mr. Varma, whenever you are short of a hit, revert to making Sarkar III.

Sarkar Raj is a RGV style of film making. Those who like his school of thoughts will definitely enjoy this film. Abhishek Bachchan excels in his performance. His expressions and dialogue delivery are commendable. He should work with other directors to enhance his potential. Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is loosing her charms and struggling to maintain her balance. I would rather like to bracket her with Sridevi, Madhuri, Karishma and Kajol. Amitabh Bachchan is spontaneous as usual and execute his part with authority. This is a must watch movie.

everyone keeps saying what a great movie it is and shit like that... i DISAGREE... this movie was absolute crap.. Ram Gopal Verma ruined Sarkar Raj for me by killing Shankar. Sarkar was about the relationship b/w a father and his son. Sarkar Raj should have followed in those footsteps. By killing Shankar (ABJr) RGV ruined the movie. Dont bother to go to a theater to watch the movie. Rent it when it comes out on DVD. I give this movie a 1 out of 5

I have to say this is one of the best movies to have come out of the Ram Gopal Varma camp. sarkar Raj keeps you guessing wrong, unperdictable, and so much fun. This movie has all the right elements to make it a classic in due time. Sarkar Raj is a new venture in movie making in Indian cinema. GO WATCH IT. THE LAST SCENE IS FAB!

i wen to see the movie directy from my office..5.30 Pm show on Friday06th. i went there a bit early..nd i was listingi to what people were talking & the type of people. most of them were silent, some parents making their kids revise the last Movie SARKAR and its charachers. obviously some popcorn eating kids may not enjoy this kind of intence movies. i dont blame them for it. its bout age & taste. ( am 29yrs kid;) the movie started nd starts griping soon.everyone is silent out ther in the hall..nd totally involved into the intensity.there charachers were enjoyalble..specially the Deputy CM, Kazi & vora..sorry its wooraa. specially Kazis dailogs..when he says †am you fan †nd the eyes of SARKAR..it speak!! nd the way the Dpty CM nevoursly eats his food at that time. the scene in which aish tries to explain the project to SARKAR..nd he tell straight face to come to the POINT!! too good scene. the sarcastic humor of kazi..when he offen says something nd then tell..aise he bol diya…its different. nd then there are lots of scean..specially the blast sequesnce was the BEST..and the expression on SARKAR face ..GOddd it was Terrific..i thnk one of the best of Big Bs in his career. the talk between aish & shankar..nd shankars logic of seeing the project. it tell a lot..nd gives great message. nd am not telling you the whole story..but at the end when i came out of the hall..i was thinking bout the MAN who made it..RVG. guys this guy got GUTSSS. anyone could have pampered the characters and made it a usual story ..but he remains in the real world scenario. nd finally when he ends..he makes sure the message is let out. its like listining to AR Rehmans songs..when u listen to it 1st time..u dont feel it..but as u keep listing it gets into you soul nd grips u. SARKAR RAJ is someting like that..when u think deeply of the story ..u feel there no better ending for it. its a CLASSY movie Made By a CLASSY director. a must watch for people who watch the movie not just to have popcorns out there. thats it for now..am planing to watch it again this weekend.

Taran, I am personally dissapointed with your interpretation of Sarkar Raj... come on .. I have been following your stuff from sometime, and with your 4 star, excellent review I was expecting something of your recommendation. I have been let down, you and the website have lot a loyal follower, you must be right, you are the critic, your review must be good. Come on ... the movie was sooo slow in the middle parts and made so poorly in some parts that a 2 or max 3 star man. I think your reputation of high rating for star studded movies stand, you get paid or something ?? Hope you improve, and stick on to your follow base.

Another masterpiece from Ramu after a long time. Plot is very well made and it goes smoothly in the movie. Movie tells how to make a sequel in bollywood. Though second half is little bit unbalanced comparing to the fist half, but it isn't boring because first half is way up to mark. In the end of movie Ramu has nicely set the stage for SARKAR-3. And it will definitely come. Overall worth spending money for higher range tickets(200, 400/-) . Relax, comfortable & enjoy full 2 hours of excellent drama
