Kidnap has created a buzz for several reasons. Imraan Khan is back after his highly successful debut Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. The promos of Kidnap were sleek and stylish, Minissha Lamba in her all new sexy avatar and of course the bikini. A Sanjay Dutt movie after a long time is always something to look forward to. And lastly, the director is Sanjay Gadhvi, the man behind the super successful Dhoom movies. Drona was the only movie slated for an Eid release but with Kidnap being pre-poned, the movie has managed to steal all the limelight. But does it meet expectations? Kidnap revolves mainly around two characters. One a man and the other a boy. Vikranth Raina (Sanjay Dutt) is one of the richest men in the world. He has a strained relationship with his wife and is living aboard seperately from the past several years. Sonia (Minissha Lamba) misses a father in her life and this often leads to arguements with her mom. On Christmas, Sonia is kidnapped by Kabir (Imraan Khan). The name of the kidnapper, the location and the reason is unknown! Kidnap has the right ingredients for the audience that love masala flicks. A hot Minissha Lamba in skimpy clothes, an item number by Sophie Chaudhary in clothes which if reduced by little would leave nothing to the imagination, decent songs which are beautifully picturized, great action sequences. But its the script that lets the film down. The main motive behind the whole Kidnap, when revealed, is a complete turn off. Kidnap suffers from a story thats hard to digest. Without giving the story away let me brief you on some of the scenes. * There is a sensual bath with loads of cleavage under a waterfall, which reminds us of Zeenat Aman, all this while the girl is held in hostage! * Vikrant Raina releases a crimininal locked up in jail. Raina manages to do so by burning down the jail kitchen and escaping in a fire brigader’s uniform. * In a chase sequence, Vikrant is in pursuit of Kabir who climbs buildings like a hero straight out of a superhero film. Vikrant is no less, he gives Kabir a good chase performing those unbelievable stunts. * Dont you think its a tad bit unrealistic for the visibly unfit father of a grown up daughter to be so athletic? Also, at times you can clearly notice the body double. Mind you, the exact same chase is one of the highlights of the movie and has been shot well. * The climax during the New Year eve too is very unrealistic. Not a single soul notices the gun in the Ice box nor while Vikrant pulls the trigger! The chemistry between Imraan and Minissha is poor. Minissha infact shares a better chemistry with Sanjay Dutt in those limited scenes they share. Sanjay Dutt sleep walks through his role. Imran Khan needs to work on his dialogue delivery. He’s fine in his much looked forward-to negative role. Minissha Lamba manages to distract with ample cleavage show, with limited scope for histrionics she does well. Vidya Malvade doesn’t suit her role. Overall, Kidnap disappoints. If well-performed action sequences, skin show in abundance and great locales is what you wish to see, Kidnap is worth a watch. Else, wait for the DVD. At the boxoffice, the hype due to several reasons mentioned above, would ensure a good opening. The lower budget (20 crores) compared to most biggies and good opening could result in the cost being recovered by the end of Week 1. In boxoffice this movie is flop.

Kidnap is the story of a guy kidnapping an industralists daughter and the clue-hunt that ensues after. The story is skewed. The basis of the story is in the exaggeration of small incidents. They look unbelivable, and hence it cant hold attention. There are some small action sequences which you may like, but nothing more. Acting wise, sanjay dutt was the only saving grace. Imran Khan has no expression, and no dialogue delivery; minissha , and vidya are equally pathetic. Songs are not so good. This is standard sanjay dutt formula film - some dialogues, some action , some style, and plenty of skin show by minissha.

Kidnap is a fairly good movie with some strengths and some weaknesses, strengths are that it is full of suspense, action and suprises, also it is gripping and the climax is good. Some weaknesses are the screenplay, some parts are poorly written and the songs personally I didn't like any of the songs. As for performances, sanjay dutt and Minissha lamba, both could have been way better, sanjay dutt doesn't look enthusiastic about his role and Minissha lamba's role just doesn't work. The rest of the cast is alright, but clearly the movie belongs to Imran Khan only, his performance is the highlight of the movie. Overall Kidnap, has its ups and downs but is still worth a watch.

This is a watchable movie but it could have been better The story is about Sonia (Minissha Lamba) who lives with her mother, Mallika (Vidya Malvade) and grandmother because her parents divorced when she was ten. A week before her eighteenth birthday celebration, she gets kidnapped. The abductor, Kabir (Imran Khan) is interested in speaking only to her father, Vikrant Raina (Sanjay Dutt); a New York based Indian business Tycoon with a net gross of $51.7 Billion, with whom he has an old score to settle. Vikrant returns to India to retrieve his daughter from Kabir's clutches but is told to carry out a series of daunting tasks set out by Kabir - a condition to rescue her. At the end of each task is a clue that helps Vikrant in coming closer to Sonia. The film had a good appealing story and screenplay but I still felt that it failed to deliver whatever it was supposed to. It is a thriller that wasn't thrilling and had so many flaws and plot holes that I was busy counting them rather than enjoying the movie e.g. Vikrant Raina is the richest tycoon but he only looked rich in his introduction and never throughout (John Abraham was rich in Zinda and he looked rich throughout). The movie never explained that why Vikrant Raina & his wife were divorced for 8 years? and why Vikrant Raina is afraid of water? The biggest mistake is the running length which was 2.5 hours and there just wasn't enough to make it that long and it certainly felt longer than that. The only memorable scenes were the animated sequence at the start, the chase scene on the rooftop and the nightclub near the end. The Music is really good although it is really difficult to produce a collection of commercial songs for a thriller that is based around a kidnap. The best song is the gritty Mit Jaaye. Overall it was O.K to be watched once but it didn't' live up to my expectations.

Overall Kidnap is a very good film mainly because of Imran Khan's acting and action sequences. This film could have been better had the director and the screenplay been more accomplished. The film's story had a lot of promise and with proper execution this could have been an amazing watch. However, due to the poor execution and glaring loopholes this film is just good. As far as the performances are concerned, Imran Khan stands out. He has this amazing screen presence that keeps you glued to the screen. His acting is also very good in the whole movie. His action sequences are definitely something to watch out for. Sanjay dutt was ok but seemed to want to go to sleep. Manisha was also ok while vidya was average in most of the movie. Definitely worth one watch just because of Imran Khan who seems to be a versatile actor and has an uncanny ability to hold your attention even in the boring scenes.

kidnap, the new venture of sanjay gadhvi is an interesting tale but hard to explain.the concept is very interesting, but the writers fail to take the advantage of the concept and land up making an ordianry movie with good thrills and one mindblowing performance.the story is laid with gold but no one really tastes it out.the screenplay is the culprit here.the faulty screen play idnaps the whole story and lands it up in the trash bin.the dialouges are good.the direction is okay.kidnap totally belongs to imraan khan.the actor has performed very well. he has shown great athetics skills.the dialouge delivery, facial expression and the seriousness of the character is well maintained by him. sanjay dutt performs well.minissha lamba is okay vidya malvade looks is a miscast.reema lagoo is sincere.rahul dev is good.overall kidnap falls due to weak screenplay and bad execution.

A gripping story backed up by some spectacular cinematography, exciting starcast, and great songs…
A gripping story backed up by some spectacular cinematography, exciting starcast, and great songs too! I fail to understand why this movie is not receiving more acclaim both publically and critically. A Breakdown: It is a typical vengance movie showing a classical kidnap case and the work done to get her back. The "different angle" to this movie is that the kidnapper doesn't just ask for money and get it over with. He makes Sanjay Dutt, father of Minnissha Lamba (the kidnapped) in the film, commit these various crimes in order to get back his daughter so as to claim his revenge on a long-time-ago injustice Sanjay Dutt brought upon the kidnapper. And the crimes Khan makes Dutt commit - they are so innovative and different in terms of execution and planning. It also reminds you of Dhoom II where Hrithik Roshan pulls a bunch of heists to get what he wants. So the story is different because while it sets itself on basis of a conventional kidnap case, it adds a twist to it. The cinematography and action sequences are the icing and cherry of the movie. Cinematography shown of the run-down hide-out of the kidnapper as well as of the royal blue seascapes with Minnisha Lamba are excrutiatingly excellent. And the action sequences are very nice too - classical in terms of concept and modern in terms of style (but then again you can't expect less from a Sanjay Gadhvi film). I would especially like to point out the scene where Imran Khan and Sanjay Dutt chase each other up and down buildings and through the entire city. Some amazing leaps and stunts were performed by Imran Khan who claims to have done the stunts himself. And finally the acting. Sanjay Dutt, being a season actor, was very good - looked very cool even as a father. Imran Khan - some scenes, his dialogue delivery was great, but in others - well, all I can say is that he didn't "say them right." Minissha Lamba was good and she had new look in the film. Although this isn't Minnisha's fault, it seemed her character gets too pally with Imran Khan who supposedly is putting her and her whole family through a great deal of torture. But otherwise good. Vidya Malvade (i hope i spelled her name right) - she had a short role and she "nibhaoed" it well i guess. Its sad though that one movie she was a Chak De! India girl and in her next movie she plays the mother of an 18 yr. old. Lastly - I had to say this. The movie reminds one of Dastak, Man on Fire, Ek Ajnabee, and another movie I just can't get the name of right now combined.

Kidnap is an obvious film. Right when you heard the title. But the script absolutely genius. For the audience it might make them confused but it is a good no great film. Imran's acting is fantastic, Manisha acted exactly the way she was suppose to, and sanjay dutt also was great but in every scene it looked like he was woken up from a deep sleep to do one scene. For most actors it takes them a decade like shahrukh khan to get where imran is as an actor. His skills as an actor are amazing. If this is just the beginning of imran khan i can't imagine his best. This movie is good and should be seen to most they wouldn't like it or think it is average but it is above average. Above average brain is what exactly what you need to enjoy this movie.
