Hattrick adobts an old look, seriously poor acting and actors, average music, cheesy jokes which fail to make anyone in the vicinity laugh and the locations leave something to be desired. One word to describe Hattrick...CHEESY!

Good performances. Sensitive portrayal of situations. Light hearted moments. Sheer fun. This is how one would describe HAT TRICK which is simply as original as it gets. And yes, we mean it. Milan and Rajat ensure that their film doesn't get branded into an overtly comic or dramatic outing. There is a right mix as laughs come with as much ease as tears, something that has been a hallmark of MUNNABHAI series. Some of the most notable of them are: a) Scene in a restaurant where Kunal and Rimmi introduce their parents to each other b) Danny's frequent questioning to Nana on why he doesn't seem happy in life c) Danny making Nana realize the values of relationships just before the interval. The best one of all. d) Pre-climax when Kunal's parents tell him about the secret of a happy marriage, Paresh's wife showing him the mirror about his own sense of racism and Nana breaking down in front of his wife asking her about where did he go wrong. e) Entire World Cup match faking and Kunal's strip tease in the final Nana and Danny lead the pack when it comes to performances. Undoubtedly one of their best ever performances so far in their illustrious career, the two steal the show and keep the film together. Danny is a delight to watch, especially when one had got used to see him in mostly negative roles in majority of his films. Here, he gets the smiles coming every time he appears on screen and makes him the most adorable of the lot. On the other hand, in the entire film Nana shouts only once, and that too when he is genuinely disturbed about the condition of Danny. Paresh Rawal gets to sink his teeth into a non-comic role after a long time and his is the most emotional character in the film. For a role like this, it was required to have an actor who has seen the world and Paresh fits to the T here.

HATTRCK is an okay product .Milan Luthria could have done wonders with this script but he missed the bus .Despite all the entertainment [in parts]and good performances HATTRICK remains a pointless movie at the end of day ..

Hattrick is a good movie.Satyajit(Nana Patekar) has done a good role of a strict, not laughing and cricket hating doctor but he does a better role of changing after the advice given to him by David(Danny Denzongpa) who is a former Indian Cricketer.Hemu(Paresh) is the best role of Paresh he has done so father and he is best in the climax of his story(which I'll in my favourite scenes).Saby(Kunal Kapoor) is good in his role of more cricket lover and less wife lover but looks dashing in the man stripper party scene.Kashmira(Rimi Sen) is good in her role of a wife been less loved by her husband Saby but she turns funny when she sees Dhoni on the TV and when she starts thinking of Dhoni. All the other actors are good especially the little kid in the first scene with David in the hospital where Satyajit comes to know the truth of his son.

786 FILM REVIEW BY: SHAHEEN RAAJ “HATTRICK” ‘CRICKETING SAGA AT ITS BEST’ Film: ‘Hattrick’ Cast: Kunal Kapoor, Rimi Sen, Nana Patekar, Paresh Rawal & Danny Denzongpa Director: Milan Lutharia In his second outing ‘Hattrick’ after the delightful comic fare ‘Taxi No 9211’ director Milan Lutharia has tried to cash in on the World Cup mania & his attempt although being timely leaves much to be desired. To complete the hattrick of this mania two more films Arindam Mitra’s ‘Shoonya’ & Chandrakant Kulkarni’s ‘Meerabai Not Out’ based on the same theme is also all set to hit the marquee. In lieu with the recent trend of multiple stories ending up in a cul-de-sac climax a la Nikhil advani’s ‘Salaam – E – Ishq’, Reema Kagti’s ‘Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd’ & Ram Gopal Verma’s ‘Darna Mana Hai’ & ‘Darna Zaroori Hai’ Milan Lutharia’s ‘Hattrick’ bhi dekna zaroori hai especially if you are a diehard cricket fan. Story No 1: Sarabjeet Kapoor aka Saby (Kunal Kapoor) marries Karishma Saxsena aka Cash (Rimi Sen) but he is more interested in the cricket pitch than on his nuptial bed. The wifey bears the brunt until she herself falls in love not with the game but with the player Mahendra Singh Dhoni to the extent that hubby dear had do a striptease for the girls day out to woo her back. And then……. Story No 2: Dr. Satyajeet Chavan (Nana Patekar) hates cricket, cricket players & cricket premi too, strictly in that order. On the other hand is an ex-cricketer David Abraham (Danny Denzongpa) who lands up in his hospital with multiple ailments. The duo are always at loggerheads about the game and the disease until the Doc melts & stages a mock World Cup game with Harsha Bhogle & Gautam Bhimani as the commentator trying to pass it off as the recent on going World Cup. And then…… Story No 3: Hemu Patel (Paresh Rawal) a janitor in London is also a cricket buff. Yet he is more concerned about getting a British Citizenship than the game to get a better job with perks & also to avoid the racial discrimination (Hats off to Shilpa Shetty & Jade Goody to bring the racial matter in the forefront). He fights till the last ball of the game is bowled. And then…… Milanji has done a good job in tandem with his technical team but had to face an lbw from his own writer Rajat Arora. The movie kicks off with great fervor & spirit in salutation of the on going World Cup but then….. Performance wise it is Kunal Kapoor & Rimi Sen’s brilliant act of love & hatred for the game & for themselves that catches your fancy. Nana Patekar & Paresh Rawal as usual are at their histrionics best. Danny Denzongpa makes an excellent comeback. Not to forget John Abraham & Usha Uthap’s jovial act in ‘The End’ rolling title track ‘Wicket Bachha’.
