before i begin, i would like to affirm the popular rumour that taran adarsh does actually suck big time! the movie is delightful, and real. very well narrated, and the placing of songs is proper.
the words that taran chose to review this movie, shows his shallow knowledge of movies, and he is definitely not a movie critic, but more a commercial reviewer, paid to decide the fate of movies in the views of the public, rather than scrutinizing the movie for its plusses and minuses.

The movie is about a place, and the elements that define and shape it. Sadly, most viewers, as also reviewers, miss the point, being utterly used to the everything-centered-around-hero-heroine format of a hindi film. Its not about a PIO coming from USA to discover his roots, and falling in love with an Indian lass. The direector expertly delves into the old Delhi area through the stories of people that inhabit it. Agreed the screenplay in this part, which makes up the first half is patchy, but the attention to detail and accuracy of descriptions makes up for it. This is necessary to establish the characters and explain why they end up rioting. The sub-plot of kala bandar gradually emerges from the sidelines of the story and becomes the symbol of the mentality of the people, and entangles our protagonist and everyone else. In this aspect, the screenplay is very good. The Ramleela illustrates the contrast between the reality of contemporary society and the values it claims to have. The ramleela sequences are inserted at appropriate points in the film to highlight this contrast.
The songs do not obstruct, just flow with the story. Rehna Tu which seemed a love song, turns out to be written for Delhi, and sounds equally fit. The movie shows us the mirror, and encourages the viewers to look into it. Go for the movie, if you have the courage.

We all know rakeysh as a filmmaker wid a difference. ofcourse he has rdb to his name, which changes the image of bollywood film making. and his debut "aks" was far better than this delhi6 or 7 whatever. the movie looks like a tv serial going nowhere. all the characters are mixed in to create no magic.
rakeysh had some big (great) names in this movie like waheedaji, om, razdaan, prem. but none worked. even the kaala bandar. the good thing abt this movie is sonam. she looks ravishing. but cant waste time to see this 2 1/2 hr. daily soap type movie. rakeysh has thoroughly disappointed.

Welcome to the Bollywood 2.0. This movie ushers movie making in India in to the new age. New age where same ages old problems are being viewed with new perspective and being offered new solutions. How many reviews of the movies we have read off late where self proclaimed film critics have preached us to leave the brains home and enjoy the movie. These movies also enjoyed their high ratings.
My advice to everyone going to watch this movie; please bring your brains with you if you really want to appreciate the movie and be one of those people who went to see Delhi-6 and were fortunate enough to be able to enjoy it too. It is a rare combination of the beauty and brains. It could also be very well named as India-101.
