KGF – Chapter 2 Box Office: Yash starrer becomes fastest film to cross Rs. 200 cr; collects Rs. 219.56 cr in 5 days
The Yash starrer KGF – Chapter 2 was released last week on Thursday. After much talk and promotions, the film opened on a thunderous note with the audience and critics taking a liking to it. After a stellar opening day, which saw Rs. 53.95 cr coming in the business of KGF 2 witnessed exponential growth over its opening weekend. Now on its first Monday, the collections of the film have followed the usual trend, seeing a drop in collections from its first Sunday.
Collecting a further Rs. 25.57 cr on its fifth day which is a nearly 50% drop in collections from its fourth day saw Rs. 50.35 cr coming in. However, with the addition of its Monday collections KGF – Chapter 2 has now made it past the Rs. 200 cr mark in just 5 days of its release. Not surprisingly, KGF 2, which has been one of the most keenly anticipated releases of recent times, has now become the fastest film to enter the much-coveted Rs. 200 cr club.
In fact, with KGF – Chapter 2 blowing past the Rs. 200 cr mark with collections pegged at Rs. 219.56 cr, the business of the film has managed to achieve this feat faster than previous releases. For starters, KGF 2 has outperformed the SS Rajamouli directorial Baahubali 2 – The Conclusion, Sanju, Salman Khan’s Tiger Zinda Hai, Hrithik Roshan – Tiger Shroff starrer War that took 7 days each to achieve this as well as the Aamir Khan starrer Dangal that managed to cross Rs. 200 cr in 8 days of its release.
Going forward, trade predicts that if KGF – Chapter 2 maintains its current momentum the business of the film could go past the Rs. 300 cr mark by the end of its first week. If that wasn’t enough, the massive 10000 worldwide screen count is working magic for the film at the global box office, propelling KGF 2 to new heights.
