Box Office: Rustom becomes Akshay Kumar's 6th highest opening day grosser

The Tinu Desai directed film Rustom starring Akshay Kumar, Ileana D'Cruz and Esha Gupta released yesterday. The film which is based on the true life story of the Nanavati murder case opened to mixed response from the critics. However, the audience seems to have taken a liking to the film.

 

In this box office analysis, we take a look at the opening day collections of Rustom while comparing the same to Akshay Kumar's previously released films. Collecting Rs. 14.11 cr on opening day, Rustom becomes Akshay Kumar's sixth highest opening day grosser. While the film despite the hype surrounding it is unable to surpass the actors previous releases like Singh Is Bliing that collected Rs. 20.67 cr, Housefull 3 that collected Rs. 15.21 cr, Brothers that collected Rs. 15.2 cr, Rowdy Rathore that collected Rs. 15.10 cr, and Boss that collected Rs. 14.5 cr, it does manage to overtake other releases like Housefull 2 that collected Rs. 14 cr, Gabbar Is Back that collected Rs. 13.05 cr, Tees Maar Khan that collected Rs. 13 cr and even Airlift that collected Rs. 12.18 cr.
