Box Office: PK becomes Aamir Khan's second highest Opening Day grosser

 

The Aamir Khan-Anushka Sharma starrer PK finally hit the silver screen this week and the film has been performing very well at the box office. Considering the buzz that the film has been generating for the past few months, it comes as no surprise that the film opened to packed houses.

In this Box Office report we compare the Opening Day collections of PK to that of other films of Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma and Rajkumar Hirani. PK surpasses most of the other releases of Aamir Khan and becomes the second highest Opening Day grosser for Aamir Khan by collecting Rs. 26.63 crores leaving behind Talaash which collected Rs.13.50 crores and also his much popular film 3 Idiots which collected Rs. 12.78 crores on the opening day. However, it fails to beat Aamir Khan's previous release Dhoom 3 which had collected Rs. 36.22 crores.

 

On the other hand, PK becomes the highest Opening Day grosser for Anushka Sharma when compared to her previous releases like Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola that collected Rs. 7.02 crore and the Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jab Tak Hai Jaan which collected Rs.15.23 crores.

 

In fact, PK even manages to surpass Aamir Khan - Rajkumar Hirani's previous collaboration 3 Idiots which managed to collect Rs. 12.78 crores on its opening day.
