Box Office - John-Varun-Jacqueline's Dishoom has 6th highest Week One of 2016, Sajid has 3, Eros has 2 in Top-6

 

2016 is indeed turning out to be a good year for Sajid Nadiadwala and Eros. While the industry giants have successfully collaborated in the past too with many films, the partnership is only enhancing further after Housefull 3 and Dishoom. Former stepped into the 100 crore club and latter is looking at a healthy sum as well before end of its run.Box Office - John-Varun-Jacqueline's Dishoom has 6th highest Week One of 2016, Sajid has 3, Eros has 2 in Top-6

 

This was evidenced in the collections that Dishoom managed over the week gone by, what with Rs. 53.34 crore coming in. This is a good total for the John Abraham, Varun Dhawan and Jacqueline Fernandez starrer which now has another open week ahead of it to bring in more moolah. In fact the number of shows that the Rohit Dhawan directed affair has managed to retain for itself is the sum total of all other Hindi films in the running, which means over 15 crore are pretty much for the asking.

 

The film has done well to be amongst the Top-6 Week One of 2016, while seven months have already gone by in the year. Here is how the other biggies stood after their first week:

 

Sultan - Rs. 229.16 crore [9 days]

 

Airlift - Rs. 83.5 crore

 

Housefull 3 - Rs. 80.1 crore

 

Fan - Rs. 71.5 crore

 

Baaghi - Rs. 59.72 crore

 

Dishoom - Rs. 53.34 crore

 

Interestingly, while corporate house Eros has two films in there [Housefull 3, Dishoom], one of the very few standalone producers in the industry - Sajid Nadiadwala - has managed a hat-trick of sorts with Housefull 3, Baaghi and Dishoom. Quantum of success for each of these three films may vary but the fact remains that each of these has been a profitable affairs, something that is hard to come by in the current times when the overall industry strike rate is less than 25%.
