With the biggest of films flopping at the box-office, a majority of topnotch producers are planning to produce medium-budget films. Ketan Manmohan Desai, Subhash Ghai, Ramgopal Varma, Boney Kapoor, the Tauranis of Tips... everyone seems to have decided to make medium-budget films simultaneously. Like Ratan Jain tells me, "At least you're assured of completing your film on time, which in turn controls your budget to a major extent." Incidentally, the star-producer's next home-production will also be a medium-budget fare. "No more heavy expenses like our last film (which entailed heavy losses at the box-office!)," he reportedly told a distributor. Interesting, isn't it?
