Padmaavat has emerged as a superhit at the Box Office. On each of its first seven full days that it has been running, the collections have stayed over the Rs. 10 crore mark. After a hefty weekend, it was pretty much the need of the hour for the film to keep scoring in the double digits and this is what happened as well.
The film brought in Rs. 12.50 crore more on Wednesday (its seventh day) and with this the collections now stand at Rs. 155.50 crore (including Wednesday paid previews of Rs. 5 crore). This is huge since in one quick stroke, the Sanjay Leela Bhansali directed film has already gone past the lifetime number of last year biggies like Judwaa 2 [Rs. 138.61 crore], Raees [Rs. 137.51 crore], Toilet - Ek Prem Katha [Rs. 134.25 crore] and Tubelight [Rs. 120 crore].
There is still one more day to go before the film enters the second week and it would have collected Rs. 165 crore by then. From there on, this Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh and Shahid Kapoor starrer would be playing with the big boys. Next in line are films like Ek Tha Tiger, Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, Bajirao Mastani, Bang Bang and Dabangg 2, each of which collected between Rs. 150-200 crore. While that milestone should be crossed by the end of second weekend, the real game would begin in the weekdays of the second week when Padmaavat would be consolidating its position way into the Rs. 200 Crore Club.
Now that would be one interesting journey for sure!
