The phenomenal run of Obsession at the Indian box office has reached yet another remarkable milestone. The sleeper blockbuster has now emerged as the third highest-grossing Hollywood release of 2026 in India, reaffirming its status as one of the year’s biggest theatrical success stories.
After an exceptional third weekend, Obsession has amassed Rs. 59.03 crores at the India net box office. With this feat, it has comfortably overtaken Lee Cronin's The Mummy, which collected Rs. 28.66 crores, and The Devil Wears Prada 2, which stands at Rs. 28.25 crores.
Only two Hollywood releases now stand ahead of Obsession. Project Hail Mary, which leads the chart with Rs. 75.03 crores, and Michael, which has collected Rs. 66.23 crores.
What makes Obsession’s achievement even more noteworthy is the manner in which it has sustained at the box office. Rather than witnessing the usual week-on-week decline, the film has consistently surprised the trade with exceptional holds, often outperforming fresh releases despite being several weeks into its theatrical run.
Trade experts believe that Obsession has benefited immensely from strong word of mouth, repeat audiences and the lack of significant competition in its target segment. The film has also managed to attract moviegoers across multiplexes and several mass-friendly centres, a rare feat for a Hollywood release.
With no immediate signs of slowing down, Obsession now has its sights firmly set on the Rs. 70 crore milestone, which it is expected to be crossed by next weekend. If the momentum continues for another week or two, the gap separating it from Project Hail Mary could also narrow considerably.
Irrespective of where its lifetime run eventually ends, Obsession has already cemented its place as one of the biggest Hollywood success stories of 2026 in India and a shining example of how strong audience appreciation can transform a film into an unexpected box-office phenomenon.
