Sameer accused of stealing lyrics! Click here to add this article to My Clips

By IndiaFM News Bureau, July 4, 2005 - 05:30 IST

Just a few days before its release, Salman Khan starrer Maine Pyar Kyun Kiya is shrouded in controversy of a rare kind. Urdu poet Nida Fazli has accused film's lyricist Sameer of lifting lines from his collection of poems published in 1978.

The song in question is 'Sajan Tumse Pyar Mein', where according to Fazli the opening lines of the song have been lifted from his work. Fazli is planning to file a case of plagiarism, as he hasn't received any response from Sameer. Sameer has cleverly modified the lines claims Fazli.

However, Sameer insists that the song is slight modification of the Bhojpuri number he had penned down for Rishi Kapoor-starrer Eena Meena Deeka, a decade ago.
