Aamir Khan in Parineeta?

But for Vidhu Vinod Chopra, it would have been Aamir as the Bengali babu Girish serenading Lolita in Pradeep Sarkar’s Parineeta. “Yes, Pradeep da did approach me for the role. And he was to come to me for a narration. But that kind of never happened. And there wasn’t any movement on the film from either of our sides” Aamir tells us.
“Later, I once met Vidhu on a flight and I remember him mentioning that he didn’t think I suited the role as much. And that they had Sanjay in mind for the same. We left it at that” the talented actor informs us. Did he personally think he suited the role? “I didn’t know the character well, so I can’t really say whether I would have been the best choice. Besides, even if I were the right guy, it would have been of no consequence. Because I firmly believe that casting is a director’s call. It is about the artists that the production house wishes to have and what anybody else feels or thinks isn’t of matter” he rests.
Now that the promos are on air, what does he think of the film? ‘Not that I have seen much, but from whatever I have gathered, I like the train song picturised on Saif” the elusive Khan trails off.
