Rajkumar Santoshi’s keenly anticipated Big B-Akshay-Aryeman starrer FAMILY – TIES OF BLOOD, which was scheduled for release on December 23, has been postponed to a latter date. Producer Keshu has taken the decision in view of the fact that multiple releases in one week [DOSTI – FRIENDS FOREVER and VAAH! LIFE HO TOH AISI] would cut into each other’s pie.
Producer Keshu and the Mumbai distributors of FAMILY – TIES OF BLOOD, Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd., were involved in discussions right through Tuesday evening [December 13], but have not yet confirmed a new date for the film.
“It’s true that FAMILY – TIES OF BLOOD isn’t releasing on December 23,” Keshu confirmed the development. Why the postponement? “Since a number of projects are slated for release on this date [December 23], I felt it makes better business sense to release the film in an open week. The clash of multiple films on the same date benefits no one. In the past too, when my films clashed with the other projects in the same week, it only resulted in the business getting divided,” Keshu reasons.
So what’s the new date for FAMILY – TIES OF BLOOD? “Well, we are still undecided as of now. We’ll arrive at a decision in a day or two, but it’s definitely not December 23,” Keshu confirms.
Denis Selarka [of Shree Ashtavinayak Cine Vision Ltd.] also echoed similar feelings, “We are still in the process of finalizing a new date. A clearer picture should emerge in a couple of days.”
