Priyadarshan’s is the latest film-maker who is being accused of getting ‘inspired’ for his eagerly awaited film Garam Masala. The film produced by Venus, is directed by Priyadarshan and stars Akshay Kumar and John Abraham in lead roles, along with three debutante actresses. The producer of the play Plane Crazy About Love is accusing Priyadarshan of copying his play. The play is written and directed by Naved Aslam, whereas Garam Masala is written by Priyadarshan and Neeraj Vohra. Plane Crazy About Love itself is an adaptation of the 1965 Hollywood movie, Boeing Boeing. The producer of the play believes that someone from the team of Garam Masala must have watched it and then copied the idea. The names of some of the characters in the film are the same as the names of characters in the play.
Producer of Garam Masala, Ratan Jain does not want to give too much importance to this controversy. He states that Garam Masala is an adaptation of Priyadarshan’s 1985 Malayalam film, Boeing Boeing. He isn’t even aware of the play’s existence, so the question of lifting the story does not arise.
