PNC to remake Bimal Roy's Madhumati?

Nowadays many film makers are taking to remaking Hindi cinema's golden classics. Sahib Biwi Aur Ghulam, Don and Sholay are some of the classics that are being remade. We heard that even Bimal Roy's classic Madhumati was being remade by PNC. When we spoke to Pritish Nandy, he denied any immediate plans of the movie being remade. "We have only registered the title. It was available and so we decided to pick it up. But there are no plans as of now to remake the movie. Maybe we could make it in the future."
When asked if there was any problem with the original makers regarding the title, Nandy said that the original makers had not renewed the title for years. And PNC was prompt enough to register the title. So there is no cause for any concern.
