‘Malaamaal Weekly’ is not ‘Victoria No. 203’

The desk-job specialists are going overboard again. Their latest concoction is that Priyadarshan’s MALAAMAAL WEEKLY, produced by Sahara One and Percept Picture Company, is a remake of the yesteryear hit VICTORIA NO. 203, which starred Ashok Kumar and Pran along with Navin Nischol and Saira Banu as the young pair.
“Ridiculous,” Sunil Sahjwani of Percept sets the record straight, “From what I remember, VICTORIA NO. 203 revolved around two people and their search for diamonds, but MALAAMAAL WEEKLY is not even remotely similar to it. In fact, MALAAMAAL WEEKLY has nothing to do with diamonds at all. That’s the weirdest rumor I’ve heard.”
MALAAMAAL WEEKLY stars Paresh Rawal and Om Puri in stellar roles along with Ritesh Deshmukh.
