Bollywood makes a mess out of the National Park Click here to add this article to My Clips

Authorities at the Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) are fuming. And their anger is directed at Bollywood, for littering the jungle area. So much so that the officials are regretting ever giving permission for shooting in the ‘green zone’!

There were units of two films namely, Rafta Rafta - The Speed and Home Delivery that were shooting at SGNP. The climax of Rafta Rafta - The Speed was shot on August 18 and 20. After the shooting wrapped up, the unit left without clearing their waste. The end result was that the entire area was left with empty plastic bottles, cigarette and food packets, tea cups and other garbage. Authorites now want the unit to pay for the damages. They will not return the deposit of Rs.10,000 given by the producer. However, according to the production manager it is the unit of the film Home Delivery starring Vivek Oberoi and directed by Sujoy Ghosh that is responsible for the mess. On the other hand, Shabbir Boxwala, the producer of Home Delivery defends his unit by saying that they had not even received any complaint from the wildlife department and it was indeed the other film’s unit that littered the area near the Kanheri caves. SGNP officials had to employ two garbage vans to clear the area. Bollywood was a nuisance earlier as well, when the shooting for Marigold, starring Salman Khan was taking place. The annual animal census was disrupted due to the noise generated by the unit.
