When Sooraj R. Barjatya’s erstwhile assistant Nabhkumar Raju announced 24 x 7 BOMBAY SALON UNISEX, there were whispers that the film is similar to Rahul Bose’s directorial debut EVERBODY SAYS I’M FINE. “What’s similar is the setting, since the two films are set in a salon,” Nabhkumar clarifies, “But the difference lies in the fact that while the protagonist could read the mind of the client while performing the haircut in that film, my film looks at the incidents that take place in a salon everyday. In fact, I was inspired to make the film when I started visiting a salon and overhearing the conversations that keep taking place there. The seeds of the script were sown then.”
Meanwhile, Nabhkumar is in the process of tying up with a leading cosmetic group to sponsor the salon set in the film. The formalities are currently being worked out!
