A very famous tagline says that 'All's well that ends well'. But, after 'Nakuul-turning-Nikki' experience, we at Bollywood Hungama can proudly say that 'All's well that starts well and ends well'. We do confess that this was a tough Shoot to execute but Nakuul's conviction in us and vice versa, paid rich dividends and shoot turned out to be a great experience for everyone involved!
Lastly, Bollywood Hungama whole heartedly would like to thank each and everyone behind this venture. A huge thanks going out to the 'Dream Team' which included Nakuul Mehta (who was simply a dream to work with), Vickky Idnani (the dream photographer), stylist Mrunal (who worked incessantly to give Nakuul the right look) and lastly, the make up artist Mahendra Gupta (the man whose fingers simply glided its way through Nakuul's face and gave birth to Nikki in no time). Thanks a million guys. You all really rocked the show!
Talking about this experience, an ecstatic Nakuul told Bollywood Hungama, "When I heard of the concept, it sounded damn interesting. But I did not know that it was coming for me (laughs). Actually, when I realised that, I was totally STUNNED! But, then, I thought such an opportunity comes just once in a lifetime, to know as to what a woman feels! To sum it up, the whole experience was literally 'Painful', starting from the hair removal to dressing up as a woman. For almost a month after the shoot, I felt like I was in the skin of another person. I never felt so smooth and weird before (laughs)!"
Talking about the shoot experience, Nakuul adds, "Initially, it was very exciting…its only when the reached the middle of make up, I realised that it's not at all easy being a woman. What I realised was that a woman has to be at her smiling best, despite wearing those skimpy clothes and high heeled shoes."
When asked if he would like to relive this experience all over again, Nakuul, with his trademark smile said, "I will do it only if I can go out and share my experience with everybody. Now that I have experienced 'being a woman', I will surely go for it again."
Big B initiated 'it', Aamir Khan too did 'it'; Salman Khan also followed him, so did King Khan and Riteish Deshmukh amongst many others. Before your minds start running on the wildest track, let us tell you that we are talking about our male actors who dressed as women onscreen! With the release of the much-awaited comedy Paying Guests just around the corner, one is equally excited about this film as it has the two 'lively' actors Javed Jaffrey and Shreyas Talpade turning into 'lovely' honey-bunnies!
Friends, hold onto your breath as what you are about to witness is bound to make you go breathless! In an attempt to 'simply try' the impossible, Bollywood Hungama got Nakuul Mehta, the chocolate boy from Haal E Dil to do an exclusive photo shoot as an NRI wannabe Bollywood actress 'Nikki'!
The man who was majorly responsible in transforming 'Mr. Nakuul Mehta' into 'Miss Nikki' is the ace photographer Vickky Idnaani, who has shot with most of the famous Bollywood beauties. As they say, some guys have all the luck in the world!
Talking about the whole 'transformation', this shutterbug says, "The biggest problem that I faced while shooting Nakuul as a woman was hiding the Adam's apple (which generally acts as a biggest giveaway). Giving Nakuul his due as an actor, he was an epitome of co-operation and was willing to make every possible co-operation to get into the skin of the character (Miss Nikki). It was really challenging yet fun to have Nakuul wearing anything and everything from stockings, long hair extensions to cool caps and even had him being wrapped in a satin sheet."
Adding on the funny moments on the shoot, Vickky says, "Even as we were shooting, compliments flowed in the form of Nakuul (as a girl) being compared to Karisma to Raveena Tandon. The overall shoot was truly a memorable for each one of us. One last word of praise to Nakuul and his dedication towards his work. Mark my words; this boy will definitely go a long way."
The very name of the make up artist Mahendra Gupta may or may not ring a bell. But, the results of his 'visual magic' are always an ocular delight, whose testimonials stand in the form of Preity Zinta, Juhi Chawla, Lara Dutta, Raveena Tandon, Sushmita Sen, Neha Dhupia, Manisha Koirala…to name a few! It was this man who was majorly instrumental in 'transforming' Nakuul Mehta into the hour-glass brittle beauty 'Miss Nikki'!
Speaking about this transformation, Mahendra says, "I have worked with many a top actresses and actors. But, this was the first time that I attempted something of this sort. It was as challenging as it can be. Nakuul has a very malleable face. In the sense, he has the proper face cut to be a hero. At the same time, his face can also be transformed into a heroine's with equal ease...the way we did. The basic (and the only problem) that we faced with Nakuul was that of his stubble, which would re-grow fast. But we got the desired results with ample applications of foundation and concealers! Nakuul's dedication and sincerity towards his works should definitely take him places. He has all the makings of a superstar. My best wishes are with him".
